A Busy and Beautiful Season at Skylark Animal Art
It’s been a wonderfully busy time here at Skylark Animal Art, and as we move through the winter season, we’ve been reflecting on just how much has happened — both in the studio and out in the wider world. It has been a season of creativity, connection, hard work, and heartfelt gratitude, and we wanted to share a little of it with you.
One of the biggest projects we tackled this year was a change of name and getting our brand-new website up and running. Behind the scenes there were many late evenings of photographing artwork, writing descriptions, updating product listings, and carefully shaping each page so it reflects who we are as artists. Launching the website felt like a huge milestone and shift of gear — a place where Duncan’s wood art, Lesley’s oil paintings, our limited edition prints, mini watercolours, and pet portraits all come together in one welcoming home. We’re so proud of how it has turned out, and we hope it makes your browsing experience even more enjoyable. There will be new work coming to our gallery constantly and please remember our huge discount on pet portrait commissions ends on Christmas day!
Meanwhile, the studio has been a hive of activity. Duncan has been creating new wildlife pieces on oak and larch, bringing the natural beauty of the wood to life with expressive brushwork. Lesley has been immersed in pet portrait commissions, each one a tender and emotional process as she captures the true spirit and personality of beloved companions. This time of year always brings a rush of commissions, and we feel honoured each time someone chooses us to paint a much-loved animal for a celebration or as a heartfelt memorial.
We’ve also been busy on the road, attending Christmas fairs, meeting so many wonderful people, and sharing our artwork face-to-face. These fairs are always a highlight — there’s nothing quite like seeing someone’s face light up when they connect with a painting, or hearing stories about the animals they love.
